Choir

Postby Johannes » 20 Mar 2009, 18:05

Hi,
I am currently looking for a good choir synth patch. I found one on the yahoo group but it is a SysEX File and whenever I try to transfer it it transfers it fine (using MIDIOX) but the sound does not appear on the Stage. According to the Manual, it should just overwrite the currently selected Patch no? In any case the patch remains unchanged while MIDI in general works just fine and the MIDI LED blinks when I transfer the SysX File. Anyone an idea how to solve the problem?
r has another choir patch / or could "convert" the File into a NS Program/Synth patch??
Thanks, Johannes

Hi Johannes,
Lately, I've been going through the "U files" Unanswered posts, in an effort to give an answer.

Here's the sysex patch loaded and re-saved as .nss file

I can only speculate as to why your instrument didn't load the sysex version, and tell you what I did to get it to load on mine.

It's possible that your instrument sysex id was set to something other than "all".
In the sysex file, the device id is 7F hex or 127 decimal.

I used a program called Bome's Send SX rather than midi-ox,
but I had similar results with MIDI-OX

Cheers, Hanon

Hey Hanon,
thanks a lot for the great job in answering all "open" posts!! Really appreciated!!!
Also for the patch, dunno while it didn't work for me, but thanbks for converting!
Regarding its sound, hmm, its probably as far as one can get for choir sounds without samples!
Cheers Johannes

Hi Johannes,
I was avoiding comment on the actual sound.

IMHO,
I think the sysex sound may be useful, but the factory sound (pad 28 Vox Humana 1 AD) seems like a much better choir building block.
I think Åke Danielson has a great ear, and great programming instincts.
Cheers, Hanon
