Lead 2x MSB/LSB Issues

Post by Awhein »

I'm having some issues sending MSB & LSB messages to my Lead 2x. I have turned local control off and am using Mainstage 3 to change the presets on the Nord Lead 2x but after it does it seems to act as if the modulation wheel was pushed all the way up. Not sure why this was happening but wondered if anyone knew why this was happening?

Are you referring to Bank Select messages or Controller messages?

Hi Awhein,

... are you monitoring the MIDI traffic with a tool like http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/ ?
It helps me a lot in a situation like that. But I do not use Mainstage myself.

I am referring to Bank Select messages but to be honest I'm not totally sure. I am having MainStage send a Bank Select message as MSB-0 and LSB-1 which gets me to the bank I want and then I have it sending a Program change messages to the sound I want. It is changing to the correct sound but it's like it also inverts the modulation position so all my sounds are bright and not where want them to start. I double checked to make user it wasn't the patches themselves and it's not.

I just downloaded MIDIMonitor and what I am seeing seems to be the same as what I am sending to the Nord! I'm wondering if it's something else MainStage is passing along that is screwing it up.

Hi again Awhein!

I had some similar serious issues with iMIDIPatchbay but found a solution - could that be a clue, perhaps?

So I figured out how to fix the issue, though I am still not sure why it was happening. In MainStage, I was able to specify at the Concert Level to tell the modulation setting to be set to the value of 0 for all presets. I can now build presets that send LSB and Program Change messages without any problems!
