Legato/Attack Flute Sample (prototype)

Post by NordPH »

I think i have something really cool in the makings here.
I´ve only sampled 5 notes to start with, since my girl didn´t have time to play more. I can´t play flute myself so it´s got to wait.
Its a combined sample of legato tones and attack tones. Quite tricky to sample. I use the wheel to sneak in the attack sample.
I think it could sound really great if we give ourselves the time to make a full range sample of it :)

So, how do you like the sound so far?

A good sound, but might I suggest that to get a more realistic flute sound, you must mimic the player - i.e. separate each note very slightly.

Yes, to my ears that sounds pretty good (though admittedly only listening through computer speakers at the moment). I do agree with DoctorC that playing with a bit less legato would make it feel more realistic. After all, your girl does need to breath from time to time! :-)

Are you placing the attack sample on one slot and the legato sample on the other? Using mono mode or legato mode?

For those with no sampling experience, this is a very complex and difficult task which PH is undertaking here. HUGE kudos both for the good early results and also for attempting to tackle this tough job in the first place!

Bless,

Pablo

Yes, pablo, i use slot a for legato and b for the attack.
But this is just in the idea stage.
Im going to try to make this as good as possible in the end.
Did you hear my legato trumpet sample?
Im thinking about adding an attack part to that aswell.

i will listen to this later when i can...
..the trumpet you made replaced my "sampletekk" trumpet so i think its very good. i forget which flute i am using at the moment...it may be the sonatina one...i think its good enough but give the existing flutes a listen first before you make this one.

the trumpet is killer -- I've already raised a few people's eyebrows when they heard that for the first time!
