Generalmidi bank
I'm surprised that there isn't a generalmidi bank available anywhere, or am I missing something? Do I really have to "make" it myself?

Re: Generalmidi bank
Hi Jan,
I'm afraid there is no "ready to use" GM bank.
I wonder how you could get the midi program change numbers matching the Nord Stage's program list.
You can sort you programs using Nord Sound Manager.

Re: Generalmidi bank
Given all of the many user submissions to this and other forums over such a long period of time, the apparent fact that no one has bothered to create a GM bank would seem to be a sign that fellow Nordesians for the most part are not interested in using their Nords to play GM midi files.
Personally, that strikes me as being a really nice commentary on the Nord-playing community.

Re: Generalmidi bank
I thought that at first glance ... but maybe one can use the GM standard for what it is, no necessarily for playing midi files.
Ok, it seems to go at the opposite from the design of NS keyboard, but I'd be very surprised that someone buy a NS just to play midi files.

Re: Generalmidi bank
Anyhow, the lack of a full 16 channel multitimbral or performance mode would limit the use IMHO, wouldn't it?

Re: Generalmidi bank
Of what possible use *would* this be, other than playing MIDI files (which won't happen due to lack of multitimbrality)?

Re: Generalmidi bank
Hot debate
It does not puzzle me if someone expect to have a piano when calling program change number 0, and so on ...
Possible use : send some channels from an accompaniment module (Roland BK7) to a NS.
Possible use case : on small stages, one man band / singers, weddings ...
Joke : after the Kronos, now the NS compete with the Yamaha Tyros.

Re: Generalmidi bank
It's not the 80s, it's not the 90s, it's not even the decade after that. If you totally needed GM then a sound module accompaniment would probably be what you're after.

Re: Generalmidi bank
for reference purposes, I've been hearing "the decade after that" referred to as "the aughts" quite a bit lately. I guess that puts is in the "teens" now.
