Moog sound

Post by csongorista »

Hi to every Nord user!

Please help me if you can! For long time I've benn searchin this kind of Moog sound that is present in the following video from minute 2:54....I just love this timbre and smoothness....Is there a way to make this any close with the Nord Stage 2 73 somehow ? I'm a newbie and not good with programming and shifting the synth knobs.I'm the person who likes more to play and not too much programing, at least so far...I would just love to have a sample or program for it....Or I'm supposed to even try to shift buttons on the synth part, just describe what to do.

Here's the video:

Thank you for anyone willing to help!

All the best!

I've also longed for such a sound, but I have so far been unable to produce that kind of Moog sound. There are ways to produce "soft" leads. That one in particular seems to use a fast attack, no decay and legato mode. Also use the LP24 filter, its closer to the Moog design. Maybe a low Freq cutoff might do... that is my "idea" of how to get that sound, but my bank account is afraid that the only way to actually get that sound is getting a Moog.

Saludos,
Gustavo

Not sure if this kind of sound is possible with the Stage 2 synth. If so I would also be very interested in a lesson how to program it. But I think with a Sub Phatty or a Little Phatty it would be easier to come closer to this sound.

Here's my attempt at this Moog sound…….
Use the wheel for frequency.

Thanks for Gustavo and Organuts trying to answer my question. Special thanks for Teedub to the attempt to create the sound. Congratulations, yes I like it and I think it is very close and usable. I already tried it out. What bothers me just a little bit (but I could live with it) is the beginning ''click'' or percussive sound that appears at the beginning of each key-press. Can I take it out somehow?

Thanks again

Increase the attack time until the click disappears?

Yeah, it is a bit clicky, isn't it?!
If you turn down the mod env in the filter section that should fix it.

This thread is a few years old, still want to follow up on it: I „always“ had the same problem as csongorista, looking for this one typical soft Minimoog solo sound as I believe George Duke and others were using for their solos in the 70ies and 80ies particularly in the JazzRock and FunkFusion genres. I know ran into Synthonia pay-addons and they seem to have a sound that comes close: Mini Pluck Solo as part of their SoloSynth for the Electro 5 or Stage 2/3 collection, see video
Now my question: Anybody has experience with these addon collections from Synthonia. Are they worth buying. Would the E5 or Stage2/3 collections pretty much also work for the E6 ... I would believe so form my limited experience. I am also a newer - excited - user of the E6, just 3 monts and want to mainly just play (Jazz & Funkfusion stuff) ... I remember my JX8P and D50 days - to much work went into understanding the synthprogramming, to little ito playing :-)
