If tone range was meant: I usually narrow down the range of the strings by splitting the keyboard.
Stage-3-C (Rev.B 2.1) - Kawai VPC1 / Viscount Legend 70s / Yamaha CP33 - Hall of Fame & NeoVent2 - Behringer Flow-8 - K&M stands 18820+18811 / 18953+18952 - Samsung Tab S5e, MobileSheetsPro & AirTurn Duo200 - QSC K8.2s / Fischer InEars

So do I, at least when we talk about layering strings to other sounds (usually piano), I usually keep them only in the midrange (avoiding them by all means on lower part of the keyboard where they can make the overall sound become muddy and also the upper part, leaving that for solo piano phrasing)
