Control morph from midi cc input

Hi all.

Is it possible to control a morph using midi CC input on my stage 4?

So if I set up an external controller to send midi CC11 for example, plugged it in to the midi input, could I somehow map that CC input to morph an FX parameter?

I'm quite confident you are (among) the first to check that. Interesting approach.

You might check with CC#11 for the pedal or CC#01 for mod wheel. Aftertouch might work as well, but 1) is not a CC value and 2) might be overwritten when hit on the keyboard. In my eyes, there is nothing to map internally - either it works directly from outside or it doesn't.

Thanks for your reply. I'll bring the nord into the studio at the weekend and try it out and see what happens.

I just wasn't sure if I had to do anything special to map it or no.

My goal is to utilise my breath controller live; getting a midi converter box and get it to squirt #01 or #11 into the nord to control some things.

I don't own a NS4 so I cannot answer for sure, but on the NS2 and NS3 it was possible to control every parameter via CC, not only from an external controller but also from the Nord itself (via the Ext section), going way beyond the capabilities of the front panel especially for the synth and effect sections.
I haven't checked the detailed MIDI implementation of the NS4, but I imagine this would work on it too?

Yes, NS4 receives CC 1 and 11 via MIDI - I think it probably receives all CCs and NRPN it can send out though not 100% sure.

For some songs, I send CC 1 and 11 value 0 via SLM to bring down morphs if I forget to roll down the pedal or wheel.

Yes, this should work fine as long as you don't try to do it through the Nord's "AUX KB" mode.
