As long as I've owned my Nord Stage 3, one thing has been bugging me: You can't morph / modulate effect rate in effect section 2 (without external gear). Well, it turns out you can, you just need a MIDI cable!
- Connect a midi cable from MIDI out to MIDI in and fire up your favorite program
- Find out what MIDI channel you are sending on (MIDI menu 2)
- (Make sure that CC mode is set to Send&Recieve in MIDI menu 3)
- Find out what MIDI CC you want to morph using MrTobbe's MIDI CC list
- In the Extern menu 2, select the same MIDI channel as in step 2
- In the Extern menu 8, select the CC you want to morph (step 4)
- Enable the Extern section, and activate MIDI CC
- Morph the Extern dial with a morph source
Some caveats to this 'hack':
- You're limited to morph only one parameter this way, but you may combine it with regular morphs.
- Unfortunately, its still not possible to morph pitch bend, as pitch bend doesn't rely on CC.
- The sound engine recieves two notes per pressed key, though I haven't noticed any artifacts because of this. If you activate transpose, you'll hear two notes being played when pressing one key. (Using transpose in this setting may cause notes to hang)
- Obviously, you cannot connect to other gear via MIDI, as the ports are in use
