Convert Nord Stage original patches to Nord Stage 3
Is there any Nord or third-party software that will convert sounds/multi-layered patches I have created from my original nord stage revision b to Nord stage 3?
Would this work:
https://www.nordkeyboards.com/news/nord ... -converter
However this converter says convert nsmp and mine are nspg I believe
So......is this just samples and not sample library sounds.. Do nord stage originals have a completely different sound engine? Once they added sampling to the nords, the converter is to reformat personal samples..???
My question is can I take my layered sounds from my original Nord and put them in a Nord 3?!

Hi,
If you mean "Programs", then there is no converter (and there couldn't be, since many parameters from a board have no parallel in the other one). You would have to recreate a Program on the NS3 "based" on the settings of the original one, but this would be a manual task.
The converter you posted the link about converts samples, not Programs. It's not entirely clear from your message which one you aim to convert.

Yes those are Programs in Nord language.
A Program is basically a snapshot of the state of every single item that exists on the panels, including things that are switched off at the moment.
So yes unfortunately the only way to "move" them is to manually recreate them on the NS3. If you think about it it's inevitable: different capabilities, different split points, a very different synthesizer...

Re: Convert Nord Stage original patches to Nord Stage 3
What about this:
"One way of converting it is getting all the values in particular of the Synth section and than reprogramming it from scratch on the NS2. To get all values, you can use the Nord Stage CTRLR Editor software to see it on your computer (downloads.php?cat=7). Start the software, load the patch you want to recreate on your NS Classic/EX, and do a dump (explained in this post: nord-stage-forum-f3/a-patch-editor-for-the-nord-stage-based-on-ctrlr-t1580.html#p8381) Then you can set the NS2 to those values and should get very close to the original sound.
To share or take notes of patch (in particular, Synth) settings, you can also use this patch sheet: nord-stage-2-programs-ns2p-ns2pb-files-f15/reo-ridin-the-storm-out-t2389.html#p13499"

There is so much more horsepower in the NS3 that my recommendation is you set up your original NS side by side and work on manually replicating things that were important from the original one, while also tapping into the vast new depths you'll find in the NS3. I did something similar between NS2 and NS3. It took time, but it was fun and gave me a great chance to learn the capabilities of the NS3. I also suggest checking out the alternate NS3 sound libraries available on the Nord website. There are some really great Programs out there.

Re: Convert Nord Stage original patches to Nord Stage 3
This is what I am leaning toward, except my Nord Stage mother board/mainboard is shot, so it cycles on and of and on and off over and over and over. Won't stay on. This is why I need to decide if I should buy a used Nord Stage and keep the sounds or buy a new Nord Stage 3 and try to recreate the patches I have made for my various projects from memory.
Thank you for your response!!

Re: Convert Nord Stage original patches to Nord Stage 3
Have you tried booting in update mode? I don't know the original Stage but there are threads on this forum about it. Apparently you press and hold SHIFT and STORE while powering on (but wait for some more experienced Nord users to actually confirm this, before trying).
