USB connection issue

Post by lorenzog »

Hello everyone!
I have installed the Nord Sound Manager (v.6.86) on my laptop (Win7-64bit), installed the drivers but I get the following message:
"Please connect your Nord instrument to the USB port". I have already tried to powercycle my Nord Stage (2007 model), swap the USB cable, use another USB socket, install the Nord Sound Manager from the CD, reboot the PC but no success.
The device is still not present in the device manager section.
Thanks in advance for your precious help!

Things that people have tried and sometimes help: 1) try a short usb cable and 2) do not use a usb hub, but connect directly to the computer.

And sometimes the midi usb interface gets confused and the computer needs to be rebooted.

Finally make sure you are using no other midi enabled programs when you are troublshooting.

Hello jfenton and Mr_-G-,

thank you so much for your tips.
I have tried a short USB cable, connected directly to the computer, reboot the computer, and made sure that I am using no other midi enabled programs.
Unfortunately my Nord Stage is still not recognized.
Thank you all for your precious help.
Have a good day.

Have you tried if the USB MIDI works? (e.g. using a MIDI monitor like MIDI-ox)?

Also note that you can set nord channels either Midi channels (din connector) or USB connector. Make sure it is set for USB connector. However with sound manager it should work either way. Yep probably best to see if you get anything with midi OX. At least look to see if it recognizes there is a NS2 connected. Also make sure you have latest version of sound manager as you might have trouble connecting with older version. Go to Nord web site and download latest.

Hi lorenzog,

Win7 caused me issues too. Here's some ideas:

1-Try all available USB Ports. Sometimes, different ports are configured differently.
2-Disable Anti-Virus the first time you connect the instrument (or allow the drivers/Clavia Programs through the Firewall).
3-Uninstall the Drivers and re-install under Safe Mode.
4-Use the correct Driver ("Clavia USB Driver v3.02_4 Setup b198" I Think).

Good luck and let everyone know how you get on

Man I just got the same problem! Could the USB port be burned for some reason?
I open the keyboard and, seems like it's ok.
Please any one could help me?
I'd tried every step mentioned before.
Have in mind that tried on my PC (dell vostro which was normally working days ago) and then on my Imac, with 3 new 1,8m USB 2.0 cords, runned update mode SHIFT STORE on power on,etc... Still nothing!

Please guys any help would very welcome

Oh no. Sounds like you could be right if it's not responding to anything connected to it.
The obvious next step would be to reset to Factory but that's a last resort. Do you have a recent backup?

What version of Sound Manager and OS are you on?
