I've tried to get something like a Trombone sound.
There's just a little reverb added, no other effects, but you might want some eq depending on you speakers.

Sounds like a very cool Yamaha GX-1 program!

I'm looking for the same type of patch. So far, the patches out there just leave something out. Some sound to synth or way to loose. Like Banana, I'm looking for that punchy, tight section sound. Not to synthy sounding. I'm playing a lot of Motown. Any ideas? I've played around with lots of the patches in the library, but I just can't seem to get it. I use to have an old Ensonic keyboard that had a killer horn (sampled) patch. Nothing seems to come close and I still keep looking.

A good horn section can be almost impossible to create from scratch - a synthesised sound won't cut it, so usually you either have a sample you like or you don't. In this case, you might be better looking through other sample libraries until you find something you like, then converting/importing it into your Nord (assuming your Nord can play samples). If your Nord can't play samples, you may have to look to another kbd to get what you want, I'm afraid. (I have a Stage 88 Classic and I wouldn't even try to get a horn section sound out of it, my Korg Triton does that job).

I was thinking of getting a rack module with killer horn patches. Would anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Vinny,
How much money does your budget allow?

Hi. Try a Roland JV 1080 or 2080.

Around 500 used would be ok. Would anything fit in my budget?
