Electro 6 Midi Splitting Functionality

Post by masterzaffro »

I have an Electro 5D 61 and I'm trying to get the 6 out of my head. I really enjoy using the 5 with the midi out going into my 73 key Studiologic Acuna weighted midi keyboard. It's really a great combo. I keep the Nord on top with all the controls easily at my disposal and semi-weighted keys for organ and synth playing. At the same time I'm splitting piano to the bottom onto my weighted midi keyboard. This can make for seamless transitions to a certain degree and great comfortability in play. Since the Electro 5 is bi-timbral, this method is using both timbres and therefore I can't play piano on the bottom while having the top keyboard be split or layered between say a B3 and Mellotron strings.

With the release of the Electro 6 coming soon and demo videos showing that it's multi-timbral to the point of being able to layer all three sound sources, would I be able to overcome my problem that I have on the 5? I saw that each section only has an option for upper, lower or both. I know that on the Electro 5 you set the split to midi out which automatically sends the lower section to an external keyboard and the upper section stays on the Nord. This is the only option. Honestly part of me is hoping that the 6 can't accomplish this so that I can stop looking at it and thinking about completely seamless transitions and how infrequently I would have to change patches.

So does anyone know if the Electro 6 is capable of having an organ and sample synth SPLIT on it while ALSO sending piano out via midi to an external keyboard? I'm pretty positive it could do one sound source on an external keyboard while layering the other two together on the Nord. But can it send a sound source externally and do a split on the Nord? I have a feeling that it can't but that may just be my wallet thinking.

That should work fine. If you're triggering piano from your external board, the other two sounds should be available to use on the internal board as usual, split/layered however you want. See also post102291.html

I want to bump this question now that the 6 has been out for a minute. Has anyone tried this?
