I just upgraded my 61 key Electro 4D for a 5D 73 key and have noticed a strange problem when using the B3 organ with rotary turned on.

Basically when the keyboard is not being played (no keys depressed) but the Electro is turned to a high volume on the master gain control a background low level sound can be heard as if keys are depressed. If I change the speed of the rotary speaker to fast the background organ sound changes with the rotary effect speeding up.

I can get rid of the background sound be turning off the Rotary speaker in the Effects section. Then no background sound is heard.

On getting the Electro 5D I upgraded the firmware to 1.42 (the latest release) before doing anything else.

Does anyone else have this problem or do I have a faulty Electro 5?

There is a Tonewheel leak setting that simulates how an old and battered Hammond would sound. Is that active on your Electro?

Thanks that explains it.

I went into the sound menu and the Tonewheel Mode was set to Vintage 3. I’ve change it back to Vintage 1 and the sound has disappeared.
