How to add sounds and programs to Nord Wave unit with Nord Sound Manager?

This tutorial and instruction did not help. maybe I'm doing something wrong?

http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Software_Tools

1. Download the archive and unzip them to the computer hard drive.
2. Connect the Nord unit to your computer and launch the Nord Sound Manager.
3. Open the Samp Lib tab in the Manager.
4. Enable the Free Locations option to see all the available memory locations.
5. Drag a sample file from the hard drive to an empty location in the list of Sample Instruments in the Samp Lib tab.
6. Select Samp Lib and the sample with the Type and Model buttons on the Electro 3 panel or as a waveform for the Osc2 in the Nord Wave or the Synth Oscilator in the Stage 2.
7. Use the Samp Init function on the Nord Wave by pressing Shift + Vibrato to initialize the synth to the settings the sample creator have chosen. This is done automatically on the Electro 3 when a sample is selected.

I don't quite understand the last two steps 6 and 7

please explain in detail

A sample is not a complete program (a finished sound), but is instead the building block for a new sound. Because of this you won't find samples you upload in the list of programs you have.

So to use a sample you uploaded, you need to create a new program (or already have a program which uses that sample). The wording in step 6 is not the clearest, probably because it tries to explain how to start doing on that on three different types of synths (Electro 3/Wave/Stage 2).

As an alternative for steps 6 and 7, I would suggest the following for the Wave:
  1. Create a new program that will use a sample; this is done with the Samp Init function described in step 7 (also check page 18 of the manual, the top-right of the page)
  2. Now select the sample you wish to use with the rotary dial in the OSC2 section (see page 21, 'Sampled Instruments')
The description of the Samp Init function in the manual makes it appears as if you first need to select a sample and then press the Samp Init button. This is also what's described in steps 6 and 7. However, I'm pretty sure I always did it the other way around. Pressing Samp Init automatically switched the OSC2 section to 'Sampled Instrument', after which I could simply select the sample I wanted to use.

Please note that this is just a starting point: sure, the Wave can play back a sample when you hit a key, but things get really interesting when you start using all of the other functionality of the Wave in combination with that sample.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to go to the 'Program Library' section of the information page about the Wave on the Nord site (this is not the same as the 'Sample Library'). Here is the direct link: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?t ... am_Library

There are lots of cool sounds by different people on that page, specifically for the Wave. Some use samples and if they do, they use the default samples that come with the Wave. I found it very interesting to try to figure out how some of those sounds where made. Remember you can press the shift button and turn a knob to see the current value of that knob, without changing it.
