Organ presets associated with a piano/sample - why?

Post by emartin149 »

Hi, a newbie question - I noticed on my Electro that the Organ presets are all associated with a piano. Why is this? If the piano is removed, the organ preset doesn't sound any different.

Example from the Sound Manager. Notice the piano association:

1 Percussive B3 B3 EPiano 2 Mk I ClosIdeal 5.3
2 Split B3 B3 Studio Grand 2 YaC7 Med 5.3
3 All Draws Out B3 Electric Grand 1 CP80 5.3

Thanks, Eric

It's because then you have the option to switch to a piano or sample within the preset, so if you mainly play organ on a song but then you have one melody played with a mellotron string sample (for example), then you can store that sound with the organ preset. Or, if you want to switch to a piano on chorus or something like that :)

Ah-hah! Thanks. So it's really just an option, unlike the piano or sample presets, which require something to be there.

The reason I ask is that I'm going to delete a few of the pianos I don't use to get more memory (the Electro 4 doesn't have heaps of memory) so I can load an Imperial. Now I know that I don't have to immediately re-assign a piano/sample to my organ presets that "used" a deleted piano - they will still function on the organ side as always.
