I recently bought the NE5 HP and I love it! I also got the Stand which is really nice and sturdy but I can only use it sitting down. On stage I'd like to stand but the leg extensions that were included are still too short. Of course I can use my old X-stand but I'd hate to see my Nord slide off.
Has anybody tried to extend the legs? I'm considering buying some pieces of pipe that fit tight into the included extensions. Would that work?

Hi Q,
35 years ago I had the same problem with my Rhodes (same legs, basically). i solved that by visiting a fellow in a machine shop and having him fabricate leg extensions with the correct thread sizes on them to fit to the Rhodes back legs. You can do the same with all four of your Nord legs. Won't be cheap, but it will be what you want.
Bless,
Pablo

Re: Extend legs for Stand Ex
For sitting down I use the smaller pieces so the longer pieces were unused. I went to the hardware store and found a piece of steal central heating pipe that would fit right in. Pipe diameter is 22 mm. Added a piece of paper to make a tight fit and covered it all with black duct tape. Finished it up with a pipe end cap. Total cost less then 10 euro.
The end result is very good. The stand is still very stable.
This it how it looks before and after:

Hey qreative,
this sounds like a good idea. Would you post some more picrures because i didnt understand exactly how you extended the legs with these pipes.

Re: Extend legs for Stand Ex
Unfortunately I don't have more pictures but I will try to explain. You have two sets of "leg ends" coming with the Stand Ex. I use the shorter ones for the sitting position.
I took the rubber end caps of the longer leg ends so you have an open pipe. In this pipe I slide a piece of heating pipe (in my case 30 cm). A large part of it (19 cm) will go in the leg end but it still leaves an extension of 11 cm which is perfect for me. You can of course use other sizes.
If you just take of the rubber end cap I'm sure you will see what I mean!
