Best MIDI channel assignments to control Integra 7

Post by JHShaw »

Set up is working pretty well- But I'm having some MIDI control questions. I can find and play all the Integra's sounds. But I'm having trouble with settings on Panel A, Panel B or both and having their assigned KEYBOARD ZONES and CONTROL PEDAL perform correctly. I'm not clear about the difference between the MIDI menue>Midi Panel A/B channel versus the the EXTERN menue>Extern Midi A/B Channel. The CONTROL PEDAL works fine controlling volume on both panels, but I would like to assign the CONTROL PEDAL to panel A alone, not to Panel B. I turned off the panel B pedal send on the Extern Menu> Extern MIDI A/B Send Ctrl Ped function, but pedal still controls both panels. I was hoping to use the morph assign to connect the control pedal to the EXTERN PARAMETER dial, as I do on the keyboard with instrument volumes and other parameters. Rather, the EXTERN PARAMETER dial does control volume of both panel A and B. Also the KEYBOARD ZONE setting on the EXTERN section seems to work on one panel, but when both A and B panels are active, only one seems to follow the keyboard zone as assigned in the EXTERN section, the other plays all zones. I'm sure I'm just missing a few simple settings. Ideas would be welcome.

There is a FAQ you can download which explains the MIDI functions better than the manual and should help you a lot. Basically it recommends that when you use the Stage as your MIDI master, you should set the MIDI menu A/B channels to OFF and use the External MIDI A/B settings instead.

MIDI FAQ mark 2: The Nord Stage MIDI Tutorial This version also contains info for the Stage 2.

I have the original FAQ which is for the Classic/EX versions only and might be simpler to wade through:

Unfortunately, these questions are too unclear to answer. Here's the problem: When you talk about the CONTROL PEDAL, the EXTERNAL PARAMETER Dial and the KEYBOARD ZONE settings, are you talking about controlling the A/B panels on the Stage itself, or are you talking about sending this data FROM the A/B panels to control your Integra 7?

If you could post back and be clearer about exactly what you are trying to achieve (ie which synth are you actually trying to control) it would be a tremendous help, and we can take it from there.
