So, after 3 months with my NS2 and playing it live i have some difficulties with using programs in live gig.
Before NS2, I played mainly workstations (korg and yamaha) and I got a habit of using dialpad for reaching any program in 1-2 click avay.
But NS2 got a 5 programs at buttonclick and for rest u have to scroll through all pages to find desired sound.
I'm using 20-40 sounds through gig and don't have a playlist before gig (our repertory depands from gig to gig), so sorting programs before gig won't be solution.
What's your experiences, what kind of "systems" do u have, any ideas, sugestions please?

I solved that using an iPad and a setlist management app such as Setlist Maker or Yamaha Setlist; reorganizing the setlist even 5 minutes before the gig is as easy as a drag and drop or anyway you can scroll the list and jump to any song/program very easily.

Yes, you can connect the NS2 to the iPad via USB, using the iPad USB Camera Connection Kit, or via MIDI DIN using an iPad MIDI interface such as iRigMidi or Line6 MidiMobilizer or Yamah iMX-1, etc..

The system I use is to name the program after the song title and have the programs sorted alphabetically. Leave some spare locations inbetween if you create new songs once and awhile.
I also use the NS2 live with many songs, not always played in the same order.
I use the "A" section for my favorite piano and EP sounds in A1/A2/A3/A4/A5
I use the "B" section for favorite organs (B1/B2/B3/B4/B5), "C" and "D" for other favorites global sounds.
THEN all my specific programs are stored in the "A" section starting from A6, named and sorted with related cover titles.
Consequences :
Turning rotary knob to the left allow me to quickly select general sounds
pressing "A" category and turning rotary knob to the right allow me to quickly select a specific sound for a song
Note that for songs with different sound sets, I use others category (B / C / D) to switch between sound sets
I quickly get used to this sound layout and feel now very comfortable with it
Hope this give you some ideas
Yours sincerely
(Note that I use a Motif along with my NS2, using the same layout, but withouti categories)

depending on the band context, I also used the approach of mistral based on different sections for different categories of sounds.
For specific songs (also having around a repertoire of about 50 songs we play in one band), I previously rearranged the ordering vefore each gig, but finally I ended up storing them in alphabetical order in one section. Scrolling through them with the wheel takes about 3-5 seconds but the alphabetical ordering works well even with the slight delay in displaying the title of a patch. Hwppy with this system for now as it is very flexible in case we change something on the fly.
The Setlist Maker looks interesting, but as a non-Mac guy would need the Android version, but maybe will try it one day.

Hi, for android systems you can use mobilesheets by zubersoft... ☺
The new version supports midi... I use till now the older version, because I have also a alphabetical system and use the dial. As I know you can download a demo to test it.
Regards
Reiner
