Enabling audio outputs...no audio in channel 1?
Hi all
I just picked up a brand new 88 key Stage 2.
I'm working to familiarize myself with this wonderful keyboard. I can enable audio on all outputs, but I don't seem to be able to get any audio out of channel 1, and my headphone out is only in one channel of my headphones. I'm looking through the manual but I haven't spotted anything that helps me solve the problem.
What am I missing?
Thanks

The book says, p 21:
... have you followed the instructions step by step?Output Routing
The Nord Stage 2 has four audio outputs. Each instrument can be
freely assigned to output 1&2 (default) or 3&4 in stereo, or to output
3 or 4 in mono. The output routings can be set for each program, or
globally for all programs. The Global setting is the default setting. In
global mode, the routing settings stored with the program are overrid-
den by the global settings. See the System Menu chapter on page 42 for
more information about the output routings

Re: Enabling audio outputs...no audio in channel 1?
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Here's what I've manage to do so far:
I can page through the commands and assign outputs to each individual out like the manual says on page 42. I never get any sound out of channel 1. I can assign to 2 (when I select 1&2), 3, and 4. I only get sound on one side of my headphones. So either something is wrong with my new Nord, or I'm completely missing something. I think the problem is me.
Maybe some sounds are mono and some are stereo, and that's why I can get 2, 3, and 4 independently, but not 1? I think this is true, but I can't figure out how to change that.

Are you plugging your headphones into the output 1, or into the headphone output?
Have you tried the headphones on a different keyboard/machine?
Have you tried a different set of headphones?

Yes, I have two pairs, Sony MDR V600 and Sennheiser HD580. I use both pairs extensively around the studio, so I know both are good.

Hi Budlong-woods,
And welcome to the forum!
Your symptoms are very peculiar for a new instrument, but may actually be something as simple as some schmutz fouling a contact inside that 1/4" receptacle. Please feel free to contact me via my regular work contacts. I'll be happy to help you correct this problem.

You are using an unbalanced cable for your headset. You are probably using an adapter from mini-jack to jack wgich only has one black ring. Make sure you get one with two black rings and everything will be good (sound in both ears)
