So i'm trying to use my midi controller keyboard as a keyboard for the rack
the problem i have, is that my keyboard is sending information only to the channel 1
and now i can't choose a couple of programs simultainiasly or switch between a to b using the nord's interface,
I have to assign b to channel 1 to control it from the keyboard.
how do i solve this???
i want to control like like a regular lead 2... =(

Re: Nord lead 2 rack MIDI problems
The NR2 is not controlled in quite the same manner as NL2. Hitting Slot buttons does not engage/disengage slot voices on an NR2. Instead, they are addressed by midi channel. If you want multiple slots/voices from one controller, go to Performance Mode instead of Program Mode and set you global channel to 1.

Re: Nord lead 2 rack MIDI problems
Unfortunately: If you want to use the slot knobs like in the NL2 keyboard version you MUST buy a keyboard version! (I also made this experience when I began with a NRack2X - now I have a NLead2X.)myonatan wrote:So i'm trying to use my midi controller keyboard as a keyboard for the rack

If you are using an external MIDI keyboard (that only sends on channel 1 ???), so you can layer sounds and change sounds only by changing the MIDI channels per each slot in the Rack (e.g. aktive slot(s) = channel 1, inactive slots = different from 1 or "off"). If you would use a "real" MIDI Masterkeyboard that can send on different channels simultaneously or where you can split and layer different channels on the keyboard then you can play the Rack multitimbral (when the slots are set to different MIDI channels, too).
Perhaps you could by an used (cheap) workstation. I formerly used a Korg Triton LE - that was fine because you could create Combinations or even Sequences where you can define the MIDI channels, split points ...
All the best to you!

Re: Nord lead 2 rack MIDI problems
Thank you all.
So for anyone who experiences the same problem like me:
The best solution I have come up with, is to set up all slots to channel 1
After you do that, you can use the device like a mixer by pressing a slot and using the gain knob to control the volume.
It's not ideal, but does the work in most situations. Anyway the performance mode remembers your MIDI settings.
So it's the long way to do it, but you can do everything the lead does with the rack.
