"Patch Remain" on EX?
"Patch Remain" on EX?
Hi Everyone!
I just bought a 88 EX and I love it!
Just wanna ask if there´s an option to "pre change" a new sound, but not shifting until I release the hold pedal?
That would be helpful live.
Tnx

Re: "Patch Remain" on EX?
Hi Totmusic,
I assume you mean a feature like the Kurzweil instruments, that you can play a chord with one patch and all held notes will stay "that patch" after switching patches, until you release the notes, or the sustain pedal, and any new notes after the patch change are the new patch.
I haven't found any feature in my NSEx that's similar.

@TotmusicTotmusic wrote:Yes that´s exactly what I mean.
How do you do when playing live?
I usually switch off between playing some type of organ chord or arpeggio in one hand (NE3) while playing some type of piano in the other (NSEx), then let one play over the patch change of the other.
I play mostly vintage prog rock. Most of it was originally written/performed that way, so it's easier to get away with.
However, when I use the NSEx in church, I'm a little more clever about setting up my patches as layers and splits "and layered splits" then use the morph function to cause one sound to become a different one.
While this isn't the same as the Kurzweil PC2 that I played for many years, using the morph feature via foot control pedal, or mod wheel works very well.

TNX, i just discovered, that switching between panel A & B, doesn´t cause any clips, I´ll use that to start with.
And of course, as you pointed out, the morphing, makes it posible to change sounds smoothly!
Thanks again, for your quick reply to my question!

Re: "Patch Remain" on EX?
+1 on switching Sounds by using both Panels smoothly.
I use it a lot, and in particular I setup the sustain pedal in a meaningful way so I can, e.g., play and hold an Organ octave or Synth sound using SUSTAIN and play e.g., Piano in the meantime( where naturally I cannot use the Sustain).

Re: "Patch Remain" on EX?
Yes indeed :)
I also use this panel switching feature ALOT. It is useful in many ways.
Have fun all.
