Half-pedaling

Post by Reveirg »

Hi!

I just ordered Ivory II (looking forward to it!), and I will be using my Nord Stage 1 Revision B as a MIDI controller.
What I'm looking to add to my setup is a sustain pedal that supports half-pedalling, since Ivory II supports it.

Now, I know the Nord Stage 1's sustain jack doesn't support continuous MIDI messages (0-127).
However, I was wondering if the following could work:

-Using a pedal that supports half-pedalling (say, the Roland DP-10)
-Plugging it in the Organ Swell Pedal jack (which supports continuous messages, from what I understand)
-Rerouting CC4 (swell) input to CC64 (sustain) in my DAW

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Your idea will work, I tried the same once but connecting the DP10 to the EXP input of an Edirol master keyboard. ;-)

Using the Swell inout causes the problem that the NS will interpret and use it too for its Organ, unless... maybe putting it in Local OFF would solve.

I finally got around to purchasing a continuous sustain pedal.

However, I can't find how to redirect its signal to CC64.

Cubase recognizes the pedal as CC4 (gettings values from 0 to 127, as it should). Is there an easy way to redirect CC4 to CC64 inside Cubase?
