Connecting the Lead 4 to Electro 3

Post by mychica612 »

Hi! I'm new to this forum, but I'm hoping it will be helpful!! I have had the Electro 3 for about a year, and I love it! I literally (today) picked up the Lead 4. I am going to use them together on a 2 tier stand. My question (maybe really stupid or basic) is if it is possible to connect the keyboards so they're one single output sound. I.e., when plugging in on stage, only one 1/4" cable is needed. Any help on this would be amazing!!

I've got the same gig rig. Compact, versatile, and awesome sounding. I use a Radial JDI box. It's the worlds finest (and expensive) passive direct inject box but it has an added feature that allows you to sum two 1/4" inputs. So, you can use it like a mixer for two keyboards. It only has XLR output, however. This setup works really well with my QSC K10. It allows me to use the K10's preamp if I need to get really loud, and it frees up the second line input.

In addition, if you have a soldering iron and the time to do it, here is some information on how to make an Unbalanced Summing Box:

Thanks for all the replies. So it looks like the need is for an external connector. Any other recommendations on a good mini mixer or direct boxes?

Ideally, I was hoping you could connect the keyboards through a midi cable...is that not possible?

Hi mychica,

If you search this forum, you will find more than one thread discussing this at length, with a range of suggestions.

FWIW, spending more than US$4k on an NL4 and an NE3 and the choosing a $29 NADY unit to mix their audio outputs would seem to be an odd choice....kind of like buying a Ferrari and filling the tank with kerosene.

Bless,

Pablo
