Using Nord Drum and Nord Beat App via Cubase

Ok,

I was trying to set this up yesterday not particularly successfully.... but here's what I was trying to do....

I run Cubase 7.5 on MAC - to which I have a Nord Drum (first one) connected via Midi and Alesis IO Dock (for iPad) connected via USB/Midi.

I was trying to use the App to record the patterns which then triggers the Nord Drum - but with Cubase synching everything up. I managed to do the latter bit, so the app responded to the start/stop/tempo of Cubase - but however I set it up I couldn't get that talking to the Nord Drum.

Normally I use an Alesis Percpad to trigger the Nord Drum, which is easy to set up - I create a midi channel in Cubase with the Percpad Midi input and the Nord Drum as the Midi Output - on Channel 10 - and with the pads mapped up to the correct Midi notes for the 4 channels in the Nord Drum. This works a treat. As far as I could tell, the App was set up with the same channel and the same notes for the pads.

Will keep trying, just wondered if there was anything totally obvious which I was doing wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok,

is your MIDI setup like this: iPad /NB app <-> Mac /C7.5 -> ND1 ?

and the patterns played in NB app don't reach the ND1?
..then you should perhaps check C7.5 MIDI track, and devices setup, -is the signal from the app received by C7.5? Do you need to enable monitoring? (not sure, it's a while ago I last worked with MIDI tracks)

Managed to sort it thanks - think it was just a combination of midi channels and settings in Cubase.

Started by getting the Nord Beat to record the notes into Cubase, and then setting so that played back through the Nord Drum. Once that was sorted it was fine. Didn't need the monitoring to be enabled.
