Bag / Case for the Nord Stage

I am currently using my old but sturdy 61key SOft Gigbag for my NS Compact EX but have seen the red soft bags that you can find on some websites. However, I am not sure which one is suitable for the COmpact or if there are different manufacturers?' In particular, I am interested in the possibility of carrying the thing as rucksack e.g. for cycling, even though it seems tough having 10kgs on your back. BUt does it actually work?? Does someone has one of the soft gigbags for the compact and uses them e.g. in the bus or so? I woud imagine it looks quite weird having 1.2meters on ones back, or is it comfortably?? Moreover, are these bags protective enough, like how many cms are the walls thick??

Hi Johannes.

I use the clavia gigbag 73(same for electro 73 and stage compact) for my stage compact. I am really satisfied with it. I carry the stage on my back everytime I need to bring it to gigs or rehearsels. It can be a bit heavy to carry over longer distances. Though it's fine when you go by train and bus.
I think the keyboard will be too long to carry while riding a bike.

The soft bag is really sturdy and robust. I have used my bag for ca. 3,5 years(first with my electro 2 73 and later for my stage compact) and it has no damages yet. It is very comfortable to use, although as mentioned can be a bit heavy to carry over longer distances.

The bag is somewhat protective but be careful not to bump the keyboard into stuff. I have a few small marks on the end wooden pieces on the stage from that. The walls are made of soft material.

I think it looks fine when carrying the keyboard on the back. And it is really practical.

It's no problem riding the bike with the Clavia (73 key) gigbag.
But don't expect it to be comfortable at longer distances! ;o)

I prefer using the shoulder strap when walking, because the lower part of the bag touches the back of my thighs. Besides, I always start sweating on my back with the heavy bag on it.

I think the bag is protective enough if you handle it yourself. I use it all the time to carry it to rehearsals and gigs and my keyboard still hasn't got a scratch or dent. There is a solid board in the top and bottom parts and the padding is about 2cm thick I guess. I would NOT let other people handle the keyboard in ANY gigbag. I'd use a case for that.

The extra compartment could be bigger though. I can't fit both of my Yamaha pedals (fc4+fc7) into it.

Would just like to offer my 2 cents.

The 73 key case... is comfortable. And effective at protecting your keyboard. Its not perfect however. As mentioned above.. you'll never fit a swell pedal. You can get 2 normal sustain pedals in if you like puzzles...

I've had my stage compact for 3 years, taken regularly on public transport... and i've broken one case over that time.. which isn't too bad really, for 3 years, but its worth knowing as they're so expensive. The zip is a weak point, and also the points at the bottom that the strap attaches too are a weak point if you ever use momentum to put the keyboard on (likely, if you are suddenly rushing off a train for example)

I won't get on a bicycle with the bag on my back. I think it's far too big for that and if you use the shoulder strap, your shoulder hurts after 10 minutes. I prefer going by car and carry the bag in your hand. I totally agree on your point about the extra compartment.
