My C above middle is louder and sharper (not in pitch) then the rest of the notes when in the Piano mode. I am tempted to open it up and see if something is wrong with the contacts. Are there any published guidelines for this process, or is their any advice?

I found the same problem on Electro 4D, but on F#3.

At the last one you can see some dust.
The ribbon contacts after key have released it's just like vacuum cleaner.

Dust itself is generally not a huge problem, but skin flakes, small blossoms or bits of paper can certainly cause a key contact to fail. Nothing that can't be solved, but it is very annoying.

Recently I got the problem where one of my keys stopped working on my Electro 3. I opened up the board, peeled away the gray rubber membrane, found a tiny speck of debris, removed the speck, re-assembled everything, and the fix worked.

I was having difficult in getting the "pegs" or "fingers" of the gray rubber membrane into the holes of the printed circuit board. I did not want to use anything metal, as I was afraid that might damage the gray rubber membrane. My wife suggested a nylon bristle from a woman's hair brush. I broke off a bristle, and as soon as I inserted it inside the hole in the gray rubber fingers, each gray rubber finger very easily slid right back into the holes in the printed circuit board. I wanted to share this in case anyone else had a similar difficult during reassembly.

The attached picture shows a nylon bristle in the hole inside one of the fingers of the gray rubber membrane, and in the background, the hair brush that this bristle came from.

i use the bent ends of paper clips -- ordinary paper clip for the small ones and slightly larger heavy duty paper clips for the larger ones. No more likely to poke through than a brush bristle, I think, but you are definitely on the right track there
