I wonder whether anyone else on here uses a Studiologic VMK161 Organ Plus and whether they also had problems with their Data Entry knob? Specifically, I can't reliably count clicks - if it's currently on preset 3, say, and I turn it to the right one click, it won't necessarily end up on preset 4. Same happens when programming controllers - one click to the right from channel 3 would very often end up on channel 5, or 2, or off entirely.
I also had a problem with ghost pitch bend/mod data being sent when I first played it, but I can no longer reliably reproduce that.
I bought it second hand, so I'm just trying to ascertain whether it's a known issue or whether I bought a defective unit. Either way I doubt I'll bother sending it back, now that it's programmed it works a treat! Just need to remember to use the page buttons to navigate presets.

I know of this unit, but don't have any experience with it. However, I suspect it has similar issues with the encoders as quite a few other synths (and other equipment) have. For example, the Waldorf Blofeld, DSI Prophet 08 and Poly Evolver (older encoder versions), etc.mhorspool wrote:I bought it second hand, so I'm just trying to ascertain whether it's a known issue or whether I bought a defective unit. The cause doesn't seem the same in every case; on the DSI synths treating the encoders with DeoxIT (D) cured the issue for a while (replacement boards are the only structural solution though). On the Blofeld a software update improved the issue (1.16 beta, works fine for me though), but it seems a hardware mod is also possible.
No idea what's the issue with the encoder(s) in that Studiologic unit. I wouldn't be surprised if they all get issue in the end. That's a hunch, not a fact

Hmm. Thanks mjbrands. I will try some DeoxIT and see what happens. It's only really an issue while I'm programming it (unless I decide I want more than one preset) so I don't really want to spend too much money on it. Would be good to get it working properly though.
