Is there a way to increase storage in sample library...
I have the Nord electro 3, and when I load into the sample library, I can get around 27 files or so onto it... Is there any way to increase the storage somehow? I keep having to delete samples to get new ones on there.
Thanks.
Loving this thing, I bought it yesterday and so far have loaded every good sound I can think of on it...but I want more!
Thanks.

No, no way to increase memory...except by buying newer models...

320 , 128 or 64 mb. etc. isnt much storage for samples.. . Im surprised it wasnt more like 1 gig memory for each section, even our phones store like a few gig. is there an arguement against this?
Re: Is there a way to increase storage in sample library...
Your phone, etc. uses a different kind of Flash memory. Due to the way the Nords work internally, that kind of Flash wouldn't work.azwel wrote:is there an arguement against this?
To put things in perspective: the Roland Fantom G has 256 MB of ROM for storing instrument sounds and can have 32 up to 1056 MB of RAM for you own, custom samples (WAV files). If you only use the built-in sounds in the ROM, the Roland Fantom G starts up fairly quick (say 15-20 seconds). If you also want to use that RAM for loading custom samples (i.e. multi-sampled instruments), these sounds need to be loaded from a USB stick when you start the Fantom. My Fantom G had 544 MB of RAM (32 MB built-in + an additional 512 MB) and when it had to load sounds into that memory, it took more than 2 minutes (!!) to start up. Imagine having to make jokes on stage while your whole band is waiting for your keyboard to start up after a brief power failure (someone tripped over a power cable?).

There is a difference in memory and memory...the flash that Nord uses is faster and more robust (can be written over) many more times than what your phone would tolerate, and hence is much more expensive...

Do you think it is possible in the near future then? Micro sd card...That would be so good.

Only Clavia knows whether something like that is in the pipeline, but I'm not holding my breath.azwel wrote:Do you think it is possible in the near future then? Micro sd card...That would be so good.

If you want loads and loads of room for your own sample-based sounds right now, the Korg Kronos or a computer/laptop-based setup is probably the best solution.
It wouldn't be surprised if they'll come up with a version of the Stage 2 with more memory though (Stage 2 EX or something?).

I just thought of this....Since theres no way to increase memory....is there was to compress a nsmp file more? and make it smaller.

Re: Is there a way to increase storage in sample library...
If you compress it outboard, ie. off the Nord, you would still need some way to uncompress it when it was ON the Nord. Which isnt possible. The nsmp files are probably as compressed as possible, anyway.

Re: Is there a way to increase storage in sample library...
You could of course sample one of the stock sounds and create your own sampled instrument, perhaps with fewer samples per octave to lower the amount of memory required.
