Some two years ago I bought a nord stage for my daughter (16yrs old) who is a good pianist for classical/jaz (did Montreux last summer as a member of DYJO). Problem - on a number of occasions she has been forced to move from the nord to a cheap (chinese manu.) keyboard because the sound provided by the stage is muffled and not crisp enough (applies to piano and harpsichord) - it sounds 'electric'. Using a Roland amp which is fine when used with cheapo keyboards. Any suggestions on how we can overcome problem or am I going to be forced to replace. Thanks in advance for your attention/help.

Hi,
I never liked Roland amps.
I have a Peavey KB3 and the sound is very good, a lot power.
Maybe the solution is changing the amp and not the keyboard.
Or the way you plug in (stereo or mono), or how you adjust the EQ.
I really don't think the problem is the NS.
But I know that for me, roland amps don't sound good.

Did you upgrade the OS to include the mono option?

I had a few months of misery with my Stage before the mono mode upgrade was available - it sounded awful in mono for the Pianos (not sure on the harpsichord though - wasn't using it at the time).

Not sure it was ever enough to make me move to a cheapo alternative board, but it sounded poor in comparison to running in mono mode (which in turn was poor compared to stereo).

Try the mono mode, and if that's still rough, the alternative amp or stereo options are next.

I like the piano sounds of my Nord Stage EX 88 coming through my Motion Sound KP100 Stereo amp (both channels in one box and relatively small). If You place the amp in front of You (e.g. on a chair) the piano feeling coming also from the left - right effect of the stereo signal is very nice for acoustic piano players. The sound of the Motion Sound is very soft, but with the choices of the different grand piano patches of CLAVIA it not easy to select the right one because they differ very much. And be shure to select a large patch model and switch string resonance on because this make a big difference.

Hi! I have the same problem! when you line out the NS in a PA the piano sounds, sound like sh%t, no crisp in the sound, just a lot off middel range, the same sound i headfones sound great???
Whats wrong?? I have a beringer 3000 keboard amp and it`s the same problem the piano sounds like sh%t, but the organ string, synth sounds great...I have no expenation why the Piano sounds bad.

Can any body help me??
