Nord Wave, To buy or not to buy?
Hi everyone...
I have the NS classic and I need some "strings" and a sample feature that can record another sounds and put it into the keyboard and play normaly and to be fast to load.
I know a lot people will say Nord Wave and I'm really looking for to buy it, but is there another keyboard that is similar?
About the fast loading time, the light weight, size, lots of knobs, sampling, ....??
Maybe some sequencer / arpeggiator too.
I know we have a new NS2 now, but I prefer 2 keyboards to play live, so I will keep my NSC for now.
Any suggestions?

Just go for it!
I have one and its fantastic, except keybad :D
Also you get much more if you add Wave to your gig.
It is really outstanding instrument.

About the NW, can you put whatever you want in any key?
I mean, if I want to put a drum kit using the sample feature, can I add a kick to one key, a snare to other, hihat ...?
What do you think that the NW is missing? sequencer? ...?
And about the String sounds in the sample, are they really good?

Re: Nord Wave, To buy or not to buy?
It all depends on your budget.
If you insist on two boards, and the reason you're interested in the wave is for the sample playing option - i say get th new nord stage, and in addition a fully featured va (a used nord lead 2x, or something newer like the m-audio venom, novation ultranova, blofeld keyboard), or even one of the new analog synths on the market (mono evolver, poly evolver, mopho, little phatty etc).
If samples is what you're after, then the new stage has more than twice the sample size the wave has: 380 mb instead of 180 mb.

The problem is, I want the sample on the second board, for strings and other crazy sounds that I may need.zahush76 wrote:It all depends on your budget.

That's why I'm keeping my NSC, for pianos, organs and pads.
thank's

Nord samples are for sure the best on the market.
YES, you can map your samples as you want with sample manager.
Missing? Depends of the music you are playing. I most of all miss (good) remote editor, miss soften keys, miss couple of effects, miss after-touch morphing, miss mater tempo...and few little things.
But it really is a wonderful instrument.

Re: Nord Wave, To buy or not to buy?
if you absolutely need to have two keyboards, I would do this:
upgrade to the NS2, and buy an M50 61, with the M50 you´d have all the features you´d want and miss on the NW (namely excelent drumtrack, two arpegiators, and a powerful sequencer) with the M50 you could control the NS2´s string samples, since those are somewhat better than what is found on the M50. the M50 is about 1k USdollar and the upgrade is at least 1.5k USD.
OR If you do not want to upgrade to NS2 (its quite bothersome selling a NSC), then get a PC3le instead. It´s got some amazing orchestral sounds and its got a powerful enough VA and sequencer. PC3le 61 is around 1500.
Also get a very cool spider pro stand for your two keyboards ;)
and you´ll get something like this:

PS: check out what the wave sample capacities can do, and in the future, the NS2:

Re: Nord Wave, To buy or not to buy?
If you're happy with your Stage and want a 2nd board (I also always prefer 2 boards), compared to the Stage 2 a couple of people recommended, the Wave is a more flexible sample-based synth, it's cheaper, and (this is a biggie) you can actually buy one today.
If you want to spend less, you could look at a Waldorf Blofeld keyboard, which has some pros and cons compared to the Wave. It adds the arpeggiator you want, and it is multitimbral, but isn't nearly as knobby and doesn't have as much sample RAM..

I know about the Blofeld, but I prefer more knobs, and the sample from the NW I guess is better.anotherscott wrote:If you're happy with your Stage and want a 2nd board (I also always prefer 2 boards), compared to the Stage 2 a couple of people recommended, the Wave is a more flexible sample-based synth, it's cheaper, and (this is a biggie) you can actually buy one today.

I like the size of the NW, the knobs, the weight, the way that the sample works, but I was wondering about something else similar to the NW, I'm not talking about price, it's about something similar in features, size, etc...
I'm just looking for options before I buy anything.
thank's.

Access VIRUS TI... way beyond if you're looking just for synth sounds, but as I already said THE NORD SAMPLES ARE OUTSTANDING. It depends what do you play, what do you need...
