Pitch bending through python

Post by Edvin »

So im currently working on a DIY pedalboard where im going to implement program switching, module enable and disable and some effects enable disable. When working on this i stumbled upon some old videos i saw about how you could implement pitch bending on the electro 6.

this guy uses a midi hub to connect a pedal and his nord midi out to then send it back into the nord as midi in.

Now I dont have any midi cables and for my pedalboard i was just gonna send everything through the usb port. I didnt think this would work since in my opinion this seems almost too easy to be true and way easier than all the videos ive seen. But i decided to try anyways and it works almost flawlessly.

So what you are doing is you are sending the midi out from the nord, then through python in my case you alter the pitch and then send it back to the nord. So just by running python (i plan to do it on a rasberry pi for this project) you can skip all the extra cables and just have one connection. And this can all run while also running the program switching and everthing else i was starting this project for.

Actually this means that you should probably also be able to program monophonic sounds with built in pitch bending between notes as well. Im gonna try working on this next.
