Transferring patches from an NS2 to a NS3
Hi. I play on a Nord Stage 2 EX, but have a tour in the EU where they are back-lining me a Nord Stage 3. Am I able to transfer my patches from my NS2 to the NS3 using the Nord Sound Manager app? I have them saved as a bundle. My patches are all complex and multi-layered. I've tried this before at a gig and in the app it said my patches weren't compatible on the NS3, but google is saying that the app should be able to do the transfer. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

This is not possible without a fair amount of reprogramming. There’s no direct transfer capability between NS2 and NS3.
Nord has introduced a way to mostly transfer NS3 programs to NS4, though the NS2 to NS3 is simply not possible.

Right, that’s what I thought. Thank you for confirming. I think I’m just going to need to sit at the NS3 with headphones for an hour and recreate all my patches.
Frustrating that chatGPT seems to think it’s doable though. Taken from its response - “When you import a Stage 2 patch into a Stage 3, Nord Sound Manager will automatically convert the older .ns2p format into the Stage 3’s native format so the patch will load on the newer instrument”

Re: Transferring patches from an NS2 to a NS3
That’s a shame that AI was misleading and inaccurate. My hunch is that it found some tidbits of data that indicate the compatibility of .nsmp files across these instruments. Which is a helpful boost if you need to just move your .nsmp files to be reprogrammed into the next model. It’s a far cry from the actual program files being compatible. Good luck!nminer05 wrote: 16 Jan 2026, 05:43 Right, that’s what I thought. Thank you for confirming. If it only takes you an hour to recreate your NS2 programs on the NS3, you are truly blessed. It took me weeks, if not months back when I made the switch around 2018. Re: Transferring patches from an NS2 to a NS3
AI is producing a lot of bullsh.... somtimes. Nord Sound Manager converts samples, but never converted any programs (the Nord wording for "patches").
There is a very helpful online tool which you can use to visualize all settings / parameters of your NS2 programs: https://chris55.github.io/ns3-program-viewer/
With this you can try to recreate the programs on your NS3 as much as possible, given the differences in architectures for especially the synth section.

Re: Transferring patches from an NS2 to a NS3
Always.
I have NEVER had Google's AI search produce reliable results when I tested on subjects I really knew about. There was ALWAYS some fundamental flaw.
The ONLY thing you can use it for is to supply links for actual research. Usually, at least one of the supplied sources will directly contradict what the AI is claiming.
And at that point, you might as well just, you know, click through the actual search results.
I soo, so wish there were a way to switch off that bullshit entirely and have the search engine just supply actual information.

Yes, Google AI (Gemini) is amongst the less reliable ones … others are a bit better but none of them is producing more than around 50% to max. 75% correct results, from my personal experience and being over optimistic. It’s more like a sh…. show covered from hypes
