I think there is a bug in v1.46 in handling samples different for keyboard up- and downwards. I did the following:
1. Made some samples and put them onto the keys for example C1, C#1.
2. Selected program in NS4 in Synth slot 1 and turned KB HOLD OFF.
3. By pressing C1 sample plays till I release key...
4. By pressing C#1 sample C#1 plays till I release the key...
5. All working as expected.
6. Turning KB HOLD on.
7. By pressing C1 samples plays forever even if releases the key... expected
8. By pressing C#1 the sample C1 stops and sample C#1 does NOT play !!!
9. By pressing C#1 again sample C#1 does play !!!
10. Now the strange thing:
11. If sample C#1 is playing and if press key C1 all works as expected. C#1 stops, C1 plays...
Conclusion with KB HOLD on:
a) Keyboard UPWARDS stops the current sample and a second key press starts the new on.
b) Keyboard DOWNWARDS stops the current sample and starts the new one immediately! (as expected)
Anybody has experienced the same behavior? Or am I doing something wrong?

Re: v1.46 bug with own samples and KB HOLD on
Have you set the Synth to Mono or Legato? I'd try either mode, just to esclude it has something to do with it (I am not a NS4 owner so I cannot test, just a suggestion), check also which settings is in place (LO or HI) as priority mode
