Looking for two organ samples
Hello,
I'm looking for two organ sounds heard in "Proud Mary" in this video, which I couldn't adjust with the drawbars.
The first is the one heard at 1:48.
And the second is the one heard just after "Rollin'" at 2:16.
Can you tell me what settings to make with drawbars ?
Or a program for a Nord Stage 3, i.e., an nsmp?
Can you help me?
Thanks

Re: Looking for two organ samples
It sounds like a standard rock-and-roll B3 sound to me, so not hard to replicate. Also, it's rock-and-roll, so anything close will do.
Try something like 408804400 with the leslie pre-amp about 10 o'clock, no percussion or CV, plus some drive from the amp sim, add a bit of reverb. Use a foot switch to toggle the rotary while you're holding the notes. An expression pedal connected to "organ swell" is a great way to punch in and out.

I think I have gear issues ....

Re: Looking for two organ samples
You have a NS3. It has a full blown Hammond organ model with drawbar settings. Please. Do not use a sample for such a song as this. It is a very straightforward organ song.
You might want to back up a bit and learn more about how Hammond drawbars work, there are a ton of online resources completely not about Nord and more about how the drawbars work. Just a suggestion. You'll enjoy life a lot more trying to play organ if you educate yourself on that aspect. Just my $.02.
Anyways, for this song, it is pretty standard rock type Hammond drawbar settings. For the earlier one, it could be as simple as 888400424 or similar. The second one, just a bit more drawbars, such as 888543446 or similar. It is really up to your individual taste.
You will need to learn about how you want to set up your overdrive and other effects to make it even better.
I recently posted about my organ sound for Tom Petty's American Girl and shared my NS3 program for that, if you want to find that for inspiration. Just dive deep on learning how organ drawbar settings work. It's an art and a science. And it might take some time - months or years - to feel comfortable with it. Enjoy!

Re: Looking for two organ samples
Hello,
Thank you for your help.
I tried your settings, but they don't match what I hear.
I've been learning about organ drawbars for a year, but I can't really put into words what I hear...
On the first one, I'm missing some brilliance. I tried to bring out the treble, but I'm not convinced.
For the second one, it seems like there's an effect, but I can't identify it...
I'm groping around blindly to move forward, but I'm not very efficient...
Thanks again for giving me a starting point!

Re: Looking for two organ samples
Those are pretty similar.
For the rubato intro, I'd start with 888858000 and a Leslie on slow, no chorus or vibrato.
For the passage at 1:48, push in the fifth and sixth drawbars for a rounder "solo" sound, maybe add percussion. Leslie fast.
For the "Rollin" hits at 2:16, it's back to the first sound, Leslie on fast.
A real Hammond has two manuals, so you can always have two sounds available, one of them with percussion. Most recorded Hammond material is based around having two sounds on separate manuals.
Play somewhere around two thirds up the keyboard.
Dial in some distortion (not just on the rotary simulation; use the distortion on the EQ as well) for grit.
Add reverb.
The Nord giveth; the Nord taketh away…
