Hullo, newbie question: I am in a band which transposes everything down a semitone. For some sounds, I’m midi-ing in from an external keyboard, using Nord electro 6 sounds to layer with the sounds of the external keyboard.
Both are transposed down. Problem is, the Nord seems to insist on transposing the note which comes in, which means it’s now a whole tone down, so can’t be used to layer.
I’m using “global transpose.” Is that the problem? Is there a better way to transpose which doesn’t do this?
I’ve tried changing the “midi transpose at in/out” but that seems to make no difference.
I’ve found a sort of workaround, using the transpose function on the live sets I want to layer, but that only works for those preset sounds, and obviously means the sounds on the nord keyboard are a semitone too high.
Thanks for any thoughts!

Hello, record the sounds you use with the external keyboard with a semitone higher...

Re: MIDI and transpose
Hi Dan,
first of all a very warm welcome to this wonderful forum of nord enthusiasts, I hope you‘ll enjoy it here. As far as you‘ve asked, the manual for your electro 6 says on page 30 that you can set MIDI TRANSPOSE AT to position OUT which means that no incoming notes will be transposed. It’s a pity that there is no global off setting, but it may help you nevertheless.
Keep us informed, cheers from Germany
Edit: have just seen that you‘ve tried that but am very much surprised it ain‘t working.
Idea: your MIDI cabling, do you also have one cable from the nord‘s MIDI OUT to the external MIDI IN and could there occur a loop which adds the transposal value?

Re: MIDI and transpose
Thanks for your response, and despite this glitch I’m really enjoying the electro.
Yes, based on the manual I thought the “transpose to out/in” would be the answer but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Perhaps a fault on my machine.
No, I don’t have a midi out from the Nord - but good thought.
I’ll keep fiddling, and may call the store I bought it from in case they have any ideas.
Cheers (from England!)
