Nord Stage4 presets

Post by Arni61 »

Hi, I have a question. I noticed on my NS4 that in some factory programs a section with one channel is active, but the LEDs are not lit. The channel cannot be heard either. No sound. Only when I move the fader a little does the green LED light up and the sound in the channel can be heard. Is this normal or a fault? Look preset E11, J3 Grand Layers. No morphing in the preset.

I believe this is because the program was saved with the volume slider to Zero, so the light will show that the part is active, but the volume slider LED are not lit. If you increase the volume, you will see the volume LED light up and hear the part and you will need to re-save the program with the volume slider up to hear the part when you re-select the program.

Hi!

What you’re experiencing is normal behavior on the Nord Stage 4. In some factory programs, like the ones you mentioned (E11, J3 Grand Layers), certain layers are set to volume zero by default. These layers often become audible when you adjust the modulation wheel or move the fader, and that's why the LED only lights up when you make these adjustments.

For example, in presets like J3 Grand Layers, the programming intention might have been to allow performers to manually bring in additional sounds by raising the faders during a performance, giving you more expressive control over the sound. This approach allows you to dynamically vary your execution and create more nuanced performances.

Hope this clarifies things!

... with that, this section could have been programed to the be controled with the Mod-Wheel instead of its Fader...
Try it... It should not be bug - it´s a feature...
