NL4 questions about MIDI (Performance/Program change) and memory structure

Post by moromali_minimal »

Hi! I'm about to buy NL4, have some questions about MIDI. My usage scenario is the following: I will have more than 80 multitimbral patches (performances) and about 100 single-timbral patches (Programs). Switching between them during a live performance will be exclusively via midi pr change using Bandhelper.

Since I found out that it is not possible to switch Performance mode/Program mode via midi and NL4 has only 100 performances, i am wondering if I can give one Performance to all single-timbral patches, switching them, for example, in slot A, setting an individual MIDI channel to this slot. In this case, is it correct that first I need to switch on the Global MIDI channel to this performance, and then on the individual channel switch the program in slot A? Will it work like this?

The second question is about storing the individual programs. I know that programs in Program Mode and programs in Performance mode are completely independent of each other. What will the process of saving and editing the program look like in my case? Should I first create a program in Program mode, then save it, and then in Performance mode switch between different programs that i created without saving the Performance itself? If I need to edit this program, should I do it in Program Mode?

Thank you.
