foot pedal advice

Post by Roscormjross »

I have a stage 2 and a electro 3 and like to know if there is a way to control both of them with one set of foot pedals,
volume, swell, rotor.damper etc.I'm not very good with the whole midi thing but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a precise answer to your question, but I believe there are several possibilities:
  • Connect the MIDI Out of the Stage to the MIDI In of the Electro, and use the Extern section of the Stage to transmit the state of pedals attached to the Stage. There is an LED for the sustain pedal, but I don't know what will happen to the other pedals. The bug I described here may apply: post12670.html#p12670.
  • Connect the MIDI Out of the Stage to the MIDI In of the Electro through a device that filters out the messages you don't want (note on/off, for example), and use the global MIDI channel of the Stage.
  • Connect the MIDI Out of the Electro to the MIDI In of the stage, and use slot-specific MIDI or Dual KB mode on the Stage; i.e. use the Electro as a master keyboard for the Stage, without generating any sound from the Electro.
  • Use MIDI-capable pedals (for example this: post12702.html#p12702), and use some kind of MIDI Thru to distribute the messages to both keyboards. The Soft-Thru capabilities of the Stage's Extern section may be sufficient; otherwise there are hardware devices MIDI Thru.
I don't know what will or will not work. You should just experiment with different setups.
