NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
With my new NE6, I noticed that the "Steamless sound transition" function works in program mode and when changing samples in the synth section, but not in the piano section.
Is this normal or if so, why does this function not work in the piano section? (Technical reasons etc.)

Re: NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
Hi Wolfgang, "seamless transition" in NE6 (and NS3 and all other Nords supporting it) takes place when you switch from one Program to another Program, not when you change samples in a section.
It is still possible that sample synth engine allows also to change sample without losing the notes on the previous one, I owned a NE& but didn't try that, anyway that's a different story/feature than seamless transition as normally intended.

Re: NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
Hi maxpiano,
It is still a mystery to me why there is this restriction in the piano section, especially since both sections (synth/piano) are based on the same sample principle (engine).
That is also „Seamless sound Transition“ … (at least as I understood it)maxpiano wrote: It is still possible that sample synth engine allows also to change sample without losing the notes on the previous one

Re: NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
The 2 sections are pretty different in fact, .nsmp are monolayer and usually small sized + the engine behaviour doesn't change by category, .npno are multilayer and bigger and engine has a different behaviour per sample/category (e.g. presence or not of string resonance, the different EQs, ...); that could be part of the reason.Wolfgang T wrote:Hi maxpiano,

However, in general and also for other brands (e.g. Korg on Kronos) "Seamless tranition" is intended across programs (also NE6 product page and manual indicates it as such in the features list); it is what it is but for a live usage, which is were it is important, the solution is to create adjacent Programs and switch between "seamlessly", even if you have to change only one section sound between them.

Re: NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
Both the English and the German manuals explicitly refer to seamless transitions ("nahtlose Übergänge") as being available when switching programs.
Interesting that it works when you switch samples within a program. That's not mentioned in the manual as a feature.

Re: NE6 - Seamless transition only partially functional
I can't get any seamless transitions in my NS3. I am loading two programs (synths) in Live Mode slots 1 and 2, and when I switch from one to the other, it is cut off abruptly from the previous one. I get the same result in Song Mode when switching from one program to another. I have tried sustain pedal, Keyboard Hold, but I am running out of options.
I wonder if I missed a setting or if my NS3 has a problem.

Never mind. I found the setting in the SYSTEM SETTING. Duh!
