Nord Lead 2 Arpeggio plays weird
Just wondering if any of you have come across problems playing the arp in 'manual mode'. Seems like whenever I switch notes or chords, it always plays the incorrect interval of notes from what I was previously playing, sometimes it even throws the whole rhythm off. However, the arp works perfectly in 'performance mode'. Any of you encounter this?

I used the arpegiattor in manual mode last week and it went ok.

Why use the Arpeggiator in Manual mode [Shift+Performance mode]? Who ever uses Manual mode?
Playing the Arpeggiator in Program mode (or Performance mode) is best done by playing chords in arpeggio them self, so the first note first and so on, because playing it together sometimes another key might make contact first and is detected being the first note...

Re: Nord Lead 2 Arpeggio plays weird
It's just a finicky arpeggiator. I'm getting the hang of it, but it's not as reliable as my other synths. I noticed that it works great until you start playing with the octave spread. It also jumps out of time in the "up" and "up and down" setting when switching notes, but "down" seems to work fine. I must also note that this has nothing to do with my timing or playing ability. If I made a video you would see what i'm talking about.

I noticed something like that too, but I told myself it was due to my playing.matthewcoy wrote:It also jumps out of time in the "up" and "up and down" setting when switching notes, but "down" seems to work fine. I must also note that this has nothing to do with my timing or playing ability.
Well to be honnest I sometimes like to use it. In some improvisation context, I like the Nord to behave as a non programmable instrument.WoutBlommers wrote:Why use the Arpeggiator in Manual mode [Shift+Performance mode]? Who ever uses Manual mode?
But that's me, huh?

Best way to practise the Arpeggiator is setting the mode to mono, press [Shift+Hold] and play arpeggio chords while holding the keys until the last key is played. It doesn't have to be exact, because the Arppegiator takes its own timestiiiiiiive wrote:I noticed something like that too, but I told myself it was due to my playing.matthewcoy wrote:It also jumps out of time in the "up" and "up and down" setting when switching notes, but "down" seems to work fine. Sure, that's you. I use it also a lot, special when bored and I want to find out where I land in sonic land...Well to be honnest I sometimes like to use it. Still there are a lot of users, special on this Forum, who don't know what is Program mode and what is Manual/Performance mode. Manual mode is a kind off init setting AND the entrance to Pelle's mode.

You can have init settings stored in a program, don't you?
To me it's more about having a perfect match between what you hear and the what the panel is showing to you. Only the morph can interfere that, though.

In fact the Manual mode was designed to be used by the first generation sound designers to produce the factory presets.
All hardware upodates of the NordLead(1) use the same presets and cards

Re: Nord Lead 2 Arpeggio plays weird
I don't understand why this isn't an epidemic amongst NL2 users..? I just got done trying to play with the arpeggio, and it's just plain sketchy. Even in 'performance mode'. If I set the octave spread to 3 or 4 the timing becomes unpredictable when switching chords. It plays the correct order of notes, but the timing jumps off beat when I switch chords. Even when the 'shift+hold' option is toggled. The only way I can get consistent timing, is if I hold down at least one of the keys with my pinky, and then alternate notes with the other fingers. That's the only way it will stay on beat. If I let go of the keys completely and begin to play a new chord, the chance of it staying on beat is 50/50. No matter how precise I am. How in the hell am I the only one who notices this? Unless it's just my keyboard doing this.

Re: Nord Lead 2 Arpeggio plays weird
I had a dreeeaaaam... and an idea!!!!!
I smiled when I discovered it last week: the arpeggio range paramater may be morphed. With only one slot active, try either clearing the morph or removing this parameter from the morphed parameters.
