Nord Grand polyphony

Post by Paul88 »

Hi
It says in the Nord grand manual that it is 120 note polyphonic…
Is that halved to 60 notes when using both piano and sample section?
Anyone know .

Hi Paul,

as far as I‘ve learned from my nords it’s meant per engine, so it adds up.

Cheers and have fun

Not exactly, Piano has 120 and Synth has 46 (see specs on Nord website).

The engines work independently from each other. Two four-note-chords - one per hand - played at once, keeping the sustain pedal pressed, can be repeatedly attacked 15 times until you reach the end of the piano engine‘s polyphony. Then the next note stopps the oldest one. If you have the synth engine layered, already your note no. 47 will stopp the first synth tone, and so on. I think this is largely theoretical, the given polyphony should leave you much room for consistent playing.

Cheers from Germany
