I am new to using the sound manager. I viewed a tutorial but still not finding what I want to know.
--Should I backup the whole keyboard? Or just programs I care about?
--Before updating to the newest OS, should I back up everything?
--Should I use an external drive? I am concerned about space used on my Mac.
Thanks

Re: Backup, storage, update OS, get new sounds
1. There should be a factory backup available on Nord's site, should you ever want to restore all the original sounds. I'd suggest backing up anything you make yourself, either saved as Programs or consider saving all your Programs as a Bundle so that you get all the sample data along with them.
2. OS updates don't impact anything in the memory, so it's not necessary to backup for OS updates.
3. That is your call based on memory utilization. My Mac has plenty of space and I keep backups there, though I also occasionally make a copy on a USB drive, just to be safe in case something were to happen to my Mac.
Hope this helps!

Re: Backup, storage, update OS, get new sounds
THANK YOU. I did not used to worry about any of this until I wanted to purchase a package of sounds and realized that comes with other steps like updating the OS and backing up my own creations.

Re: Backup, storage, update OS, get new sounds
I found Nord keyboards are designed to be your own customised keyboards. Meaning most of us have their own sounds (programs + 2 types of samples) in it (and few other sounds aside). Meaning the factory programs can be interesting starting points to develop your own programs but in the end, I believe most of us simply delete almost ALL factory programs, almost ALL Library samples and reorganise the Piano Library samples depending on the type of sounds they need (and choice has to be made as you can't load all samples anyhow).
Having to make compromise is in Nord's DNA (who uses 4000 sounds in other workstations or synth anyway) !
Hard to get lost with your board as YOU define what you put inside !
