‘LL’ error on display Nord Electro 2

Post by Yellowmonk »

Hi all,

Does anyone still have te ' Update Nord Electro OS V3.00' file (Windows or Mac) and is willing to share it with me? Unfortunately I'm not able my Nord Electro 2 directly tot OS 3.04 with the update program on the Nord site. My current OS version is OS 2.2.

Also I have some issues with my Nord, the display shows the letters: LL, none of the buttons are working, and there is playing no sound at all. So I hope I can fix this error with update the OS.

Many thanks,

Daniël

Re: Update Nord Electro OS V3.00 - for Nord Electro 2

Post by Schorsch »

Hello,

welcome to this forum!

As far as I can see there is no requirement to go from OS version 2.2 to OS version 3.0 first before updating to OS version 3.04, so I assume that the update problem is not because you are trying to directly install OS 3.04. It's more likely that your Electro 2 has a hardware failure, the "LL" on the display and non-functioning buttons are also pointing in this direction.

It would be helpful of you could tell what happens exactly when trying to update the OS to version 3.04, and if you trying to update it from a Windows computer (which Windows version?) or a Mac?

I wonder if the flat cables are all set properly.

Hi Schorsch,

Thanks for you reply!
I think you are right about the version updater. I read something like that in the READme of the tool, see photo. But I think that says something about the tool (loading sound on it) and not about the updater (updating OS). However concerning the updating:

I use a Mac (OSX 10.6) but also used a Windows XP x86, same result. When updating with the updater 3.04 the whole process runs by fluently. I added some photos. At the end the updater says that the new OS 3.04 will be active when the Nord restarts. However the Nord does not restart by itself. It just shows a '0'. (also after like 15 minutes waiting). When I restart the Nord by turning it on and off again it opens with the old OS 2.2. and shows the error LL in the screen again.

So I might have to deal with the hardware failure. @Mr-G: you mean that I have to deconnect the flat cables inside, spray them in with De-Ox contact cleaner and reconnect them again? I haven't done that. I recently got the Nord open to have a look if something on the inside was wrong, and might solve the LL error. Visualy I did not see anything strange then.

Cheers,

Daniël

Just guessing, maybe OS Update requires the MEM Protect to be Off?

I thought the same about the memory protection... Is it off?
No deoxit, just unplug and plug them again making sure you do not bend any of the legs. Take a photo before unplugging to make sure the way that they go in.
Sometimes contacts develop a bit of oxidation and the friction of resetting them might "clean" that oxide. Worth trying only if you feel confident in doing so.
Please do this only with the mains disconnected to avoid a nasty electric shock or damage the circuit.

It stands for "last legs" and it's your 15-year old Nord telling you it wants to retire, and that you should buy a new keyboard.
