Electro 3 + Nord lead rack 2

Post by xxMisterXCxx »

I have a eletro 3 that has fantastic tones, but I miss layering, do you think it's worth it for me to get a Nord lead rack 2 (used)? Is it the same used on the stage?

With a little more I can get maybe a Novation Mininova.

Would there be another keyboard/module option that I can use together?

Note: In my country the instruments are very expensive and with the pandemic it got even worse. My goal is not to sell the electro 3 and in the future get the stage 3 ha, but for now I wanted something that suits me.

The NL2 (rack or keyboard) does quite a bit more than any of the synth engines on the Stage (regardless of model). You basically have four slots of synth sounds available and a lot of knobs for all the synth parameters.

Controlling a NL2 Rack from an Electro 3 might be a little bit painful, since you won't have pitch or mod wheels and can't do much in the way of fancy MIDI things like multiple channels or adjusting external patch selection within the Electro 3. Maybe you could think about the money you'd spend on the NL2 + sale of Electro 3 and put that towards either a NS2 or NS3 to give yourself a more intuitive experience, all in the same keyboard.

An Electro 3's worth circa 800€ on the used market where I live, depending on the number of keys and whether they're weighted: I assume its value will be more or less the same everywhere. A Lead 2 rack, likewise, is worth 500€ at most. Combine them and you have about 1300€ to spend (or dollars or pounds, you name your currency). Which isn't nearly enough to afford a used Stage 3. For 1500€, you might be able to find a used 2 or 2 EX Compact. That said, xxMisterXCxx, depending on what and how much you need to layer, a used Electro 6 might cover your needs and fit your budget, since you can layer up to an organ, a piano and a sample. If, on the other hand, you only need synth sounds, then a Lead Rack is what you need. You might even be able to find a used Lead 3, 4 or A1 Rack online for just a bit more.

the problem is that a used electro in my country costs 6000 reais and the lead 3 rack costs 2700, while the stage 3 costs 18000-22000

Electro 3 + Lead 2 Rack = 9300
Stage 2 = 13000
Stage 3 = 18000

In the case of stage 3 I would have to pay roughly the same amount as electro 3 plus the lead. Stage 2 I would have to pay half the amount more.
