The Stage2 EP sounds are nice but I needed some extra attitude. The easiest trick was to introduce some velocity controlled "attitude" on top of them. I created six different attitudes (samples) that can be used together with any of the Stage2 EP sounds. The correct settings for the samples are included in the attached program or synth setting files. The samples are a bit lean for most purposes to be used alone.
The idea is thus to combine one of the Stage2 EP sounds with one of the attitudes. The program and synth settings refer to sample 999. You should turn the SYNTH - OSC sample selection knob to pick one of the attitude samples. Save your own version of the program (or synth) when you kow where the samples are stored and which one of them is most useful to you. (In the synth settings you may also need to adjust the SYNTH - LEVEL knob since that setting is not inclued in the ns2n file.)
Some tuning options:
- use SYNTH - LEVEL to reduce the amount of attitude
- use SYNTH - FILTER - FREQ MOD 2 - MOD ENV to make the sound less responsive to velocity
- use SYNTH - FILTER - FREQ to add attitude also in the low velocity notes
- use SYNTH - OCTAVE SHIFT to change the style of the attitude (1 octave lower may be useful)
- use SYNTH - MOD ENV - DECAY to limit attitude to the beginning of each note
- use split to eliminate the attitude from one end of the keyboard
- use MORPH ASSIGN to control the attitude settings (e.g. CTRLPED to SYNTH - LEVEL)
