NL3 Performance Mode via MIDI
Does anyone know of a way to tell NL3 to enter Performance Mode via MIDI?
Re: NL3 Performance Mode via MIDI
The Midi implementation doesn’t allow this,it’s one of my gripes, there’s no reason why Clavia couldn’t just implement this from a single system exclusive message or even a RPN/NRPN to switch mode on all the lead series synths.
However there is workaround if you dump a performance into your sequencer so your storing the performance data as system exclusive strings, keep your synth in Performance mode and use a sequencer/data filer to send the system exclusive message to dump the required performance You need into the Nord from the sequencer, then if I want to play specific single sounds I just use program changes on the individual slots/Midi channels to call up specific single programs, you can use midi CC to allow focus on individual slots,so effectively muting certain slots so you don’t need to exit performance mode you can do this on the NL4/NLa1 but NL3 I don’t think you can.
Not sure how well it would work with the NL3 in real-time though,it’s transmit/dump of sysex/patch data is rather cumbersome compared to the other lead synths as it requires you to be in the mode for receiving patches,I don’t have a NL3 anymore to try it.
