NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
As I'm new to the Nord Imperium, I have a new NP5, I would have the following question, which answer I couldn't find in the operating instructions:
Layer sounds (single sounds) in an engine (Piano of Synth) are relatively easy to switch on individually on the NP5 but unfortunately I don't have any Possibility found to switch off layer sound (single sounds) again individually. In order to switch off a layer sound in an engine one apparently has to switch off all two layer sound first and then switch on the desired layer single sound again, which is cumbersome and annoying in the workflow.
Is there perhaps another option here?

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
I got mine this week and I have the same problem (or a similar one if I didn't understand correctly). When it's only one piano layer (A or B) I can turn it off and on as I please. But if I turn both piano layers on I can't seem to just turn either of them off and have to change patch or something like that so I can start over!!!
Any solution would be appreciated, or maybe a software update?

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
When both layer A and B is on, while holding down A and then push B, then B will turn off and A will still be on (you still hold down A when releasing B). And the other way around, and same for Piano and Synth section. If I understod your problem correctly?

Your advice actually works and is definitely a huge help!mangepange wrote:When both layer A and B is on, while holding down A and then push B, then B will turn off and A will still be on (you still hold down A when releasing B). Well it is all written in the NP5 manual, you should read it (all, page 1 to the last) and try what you read on the instrument, to get familiar with all its functions.
"To turn one of two active Layers off, hold down the button for the Layer that should remain active and press once on the other LAYER button." (page 9)

Only for your information: In the moment there is only a NP5 manual in Englisch available!
As non English native speaker, not everything is immediately understandable, therefore sometimes are Questions are necessary, specially if someone is new in the Nord family and not familiar with Nord keyboards.

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
I understand that Wolfgang, but also this forum is in English and many synths have only manuals in English (or when translations are available they are sometimes not so good) so it is not bad to get used to that, in general the terminology is not so complex so, even if having a basic knowledge of the language, you can get a lot out of it (also with some Google translator help, if/when needed )Wolfgang T wrote:Thanks Mr. maxpiano for your answers !maxpiano wrote:Well it is all written in the NP5 manual, you should read it (all, page 1 to the last) and try what you read on the instrument, to get familiar with all its functions.

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
MAXPIANO, I really have to tell you that Fortunately after MANY DECADES in the music world, I have never played a keyboards or stage pianos that did not have a manual in German !!maxpiano wrote:I understand that Wolfgang, but also this forum is in English and many synths have only manuals in English (or when translations are available they are sometimes not so good) so it is not bad to get used to that, in general the terminology is not so complex so, even if having a basic knowledge of the language, you can get a lot out of it (also with some Google translator help, if/when needed )Wolfgang T wrote:Thanks Mr. maxpiano for your answers !maxpiano wrote:Well it is all written in the NP5 manual, you should read it (all, page 1 to the last) and try what you read on the instrument, to get familiar with all its functions.

The fact that Clavia Nord has not yet managed to publish a German instruction manual for the Nord Piano 5 is not a professional one !
The Google Translator is definitely used for the translation of smaller passages, but not for the translation of entire books or entire operating instructions.

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
OK... but you are still writing and reading in English here and apparently without problems
(Anyway FYI the translation is up to the distributor, so you should complain with your local one )
PS: mine was only a suggestion in your interest, a question on a forum may take hours or days to be answered, reading things autonomously is much faster, just that

Re: NP5 - Layers / Single Sound switch off
I agree with Wolfgang that translating a complete English manual into a different language using a translation software is not really effective, and I would also expect Nord to provide manuals in some of the most common languages when a product has been released.
Looking into the available manuals of some of the other products shows a number of manuals in different languages:
- Stage 3: English, French, German, Spanish, Russian
- Stage 2 Ex: English, French, German, Italian
- Wave 2: English, French, German
- Electro 6: English, French German, Spanish
- Piano 4: English, French, German
- Piano 5: English, French
Since many functions are either the same or at least quite similar between some products or product generations because of the general Nord philosophy it should be possible to at least provide English, French and German manuals from the very beginning. That’s one of the few things which could add an even higher level of professionalism.
