NP5 Monitor In not working

So I got my NP5 this week!! Amazing instrument!! Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to plug in my Ipad to the monitor in port on the Nord!

It's an Ipad Air 4 2020 and I am trying to connect it via USB-C -> Jack 3.5mm to the monitor in.

When I plug it in basically the sound keeps coming out of the Ipad's speakers instead of routing to the Nord, when I touch the Ipad screen I can hear some static from the headphones connected to the Nord.

Did any of you have a similar problem? Do I need another type of cable? Could it be from the monitor in port? I am a bit worried...

Hi joao,

as long as the iPad‘s speakers are sounding I guess something needs to be switched or activated in the iPad to have the routing set right. Do you have an old phone or mp3 player with 3,5“ jack out? Then you could at least test the monitor in.

You should try using different device than your iPad. Try using something that you can connect with 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Check the cable you use, iPad, adapter (if you use any)...

After you test everything mentioned above, we can assume it's faulty NP5, until then it can be anything

If the iPad speakers are still playing then the problem is on the iPad USB-C ->Jack adapter (or the minijack of cable you are using not being able to "switch on" the adapter itself), not on the NP5....

UPDATE: So I tried with a 3.5mm -> 3.5mm jack connector with my phone and it worked!!

Just wondering how will I make the Ipad send sound to the Nord... what kinds of connectors do you guys use?

Get a better/official (USB-C -> Jack 3.5mm) adapter or (even better) a USB-c Audio card (must be Class Compliant so it can work with iOS)

Hi joao,

it‘s never a bad idea to at least test it with an „official“ cable, one which is approved by apple.

Nevertheless does not every app have the ability to use external audio or speakers. I have two organ apps installed - Galileo and Galileo 2 - of which the latter can use a bluetooth speaker and the first cannot. So you may also try different apps to see whether it comes from this side.
