Ep1 vs Ep2
Hi, first time posting. Can someone please explain the difference, and why there is a bank for each?

Re: Ep1 vs Ep2
Hi Structo,
your question is quite short. No explanation why you are asking.
Do you know there are 8 different Rhode Piano samples available at https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... ertiti-mki called EP1..EP8? Plus 2 different Whurlitzer sounds? With a slightly different character each? And you have to choose which one you like most! Etc.
Is there really a bank for each? Maybe. Or is it only arranged from the first owner of your NE5? You might need to read the manual what a program/patch is.
Or did I misinterpret the question in any way?

Re: Ep1 vs Ep2
Hi, think of a "bank" in Nord Piano Section/Library as just a "category", where in particular:Structo wrote:Hi, first time posting. Can someone please explain the difference, and why there is a bank for each?
- EP1 = "Rhodes/Wurlies" https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... ertiti-mki
- EP2 = "Other Digital EPs" (DX7, MKS,...) https://www.nordkeyboards.com/sound-lib ... igigrand-1.
When you download a new .npno sample (using the Nord Sound Manager) it will be automatically assigned to the appropriate bank/category, it is an embedded property (you cannot change that, i.e. you can't move a Grand into the EP1 or any other bank)

Re: Ep1 vs Ep2
Sorry for my erratic answer! I misinterpreted the term "bank" you used. Maxpiano explained everything. Nord calls it the "type" selector which is a way to preselect piano sounds - and as the main task of the Electro is to provide EP and organ sounds, there are two EP "categories" or "types" to be distinguished.
Nord seemed to feel the ambiguity of the labels EP1 and EP2, as the Stage 2 (ex) has the same categories, but on the Stage 3, they changed the type labels to "Electric" and "Digital" - which is somewhat clearer.
The "type" categories are part of a piano sample, so you can't change them. And you will probably find the "Electrical Grands" neither in the "Electric" (EP1) nor the "Digital" (EP2) category, but the "Grand" one. And I don't know where you will find the pre-layered EP sounds if you upload one. As with the Stage 3, we don't have a "harpsi" category anymore, but a "misc" type instead, you will see where to find the new marimba "piano" sound.
Which in the end leads to the recommendation: Get used to that "type" preselector, it is quite helpful, but don't ask too many questions about it. Categorizing is complicated in any part of reality. Anyway, it's not bad having it (the Electro 6 doesn't have that preselector).

Re: Ep1 vs Ep2
Hi Structo,
welcome to this forum - you‘ll mostly get great help, ideas and answers here.
EP1 and EP2, as said by maxpiano, store the pre-categorized E-Pianos: The „real“ ones (Rhodes and Wurlitzer variations) in 1 and the rest in 2. I‘ve always found it quite helpful this way. You find faster what you‘re looking for. The decisions - what belongs to where - are made by nord themselves. The Nord Sound Manager puts them right in their categories.
Have fun, the electro 5 is a great simple board, I love it. Cheers

Re: Ep1 vs Ep2
@FZiegler, thank you for being a helpful member of the forum who replied to this question very promptly. I, for one, don't find it that important that you didn't understand the question, didn't know the answer anyway, don't own the product in question, restated someone's correct answer in your own words, and helpfully explained the behaviour of another product which wasn't the topic of the question. I too find promptness underrated when compared to brevity and accuracy.
