Settings for Amp Vel - Button
Settings for Amp Vel - Button
Hi dear,
On NW2 manual, que can see "With AMP ENV (amplifier Velocity) active, the output level of the layer is controlled by the velocity with which the keyboard is played. There are four settings (including amp Vel off – no leDs being lit) giving an in- creasing amount of velocity sensitivity" Anybody knows what correct setup for that?
I'd like to know the velocity range cover for each selection on this .... for example:
- Turn off = 127 (zero sensitive)
1 - 81 - 126
2 - 51 - 80
3 - 0 - 50
This could be very useful to correct sample process
Thanks in advanced

Hi rsfelicio,
How are you proposing to measure the velocity applied?
You are trying to work out a response curve, but I think that we can only recreate the curves only if the velocities applied are known and repeatable across the range of 'playable velocities'. I doubt that this only relates to the maximum MIDI vel achieved (but I have been wrong before).

Hi Mr_G
I’m research the opportunity to create multi sample… I have some off them from my old Motif created on separated velocity.
So if I’m correct we could simulate up to 4 layer on NW2, and to know the correct velocity range is good when we already gave the waves and to create a new one (for example using auto sampler in Mainstage

With AMP ENV (amplifier Velocity) active, the output level of the layer is controlled by the velocity with which the keyboard is played
means that NW2 has settings for velocity "sensitivity" (i.e amount of velocity affecting the amplitude=output volume of the layer from 0 to max= layer level) but not for setting any velocity min-max range, so the best you can do is to create a "velocity mix" of samples/layers, but not velocity switching or crossfades just with taht setting.
You should study more how the velocity morphing works on the NW2, instead (hint)

And also keep in mind that even if you create 4 samples of differing velocities, load each of them into a layer and then morph between them, this is still unlikely to obtain the sonic result of a multi sampled instrument. I have experimented with this and found that making a seamless instrument using velocity and morphing together is extremely difficult. That being said, I hope you are successful-
